Our Maggie was rescued by OHS from a major animal cruelty/neglect criminal case in 2013. When we fostered her during the criminal proceedings, she was terrified of everything. Our Rusty helped her deal with her fears – and after we adopted her, continued to help her become a real dog. We are dedicating our 2020 Doggie Dash fund raising efforts for the Oregon Humane Society in his memory.
The OHS mission is a cause near and dear to our hearts. They rescue, shelter and find homes for thousands of animals every year, including thousands from other shelters all over the country and, they never put a time limit on how long pets stay at the shelter. Last year, they found forever homes for 11,712 animals including 7,834 rescued from other shelters through our Second Chance Program. We are so proud to be a volunteer at OHS.
OHS also provides medical care for our shelter pets, free spay/neuter services for low-income families, special programs to care and rehabilitate injured and neglected animals (like our Maggie), and the funding for our OHS Humane Officers, who are the only “Animal Cops” in the entire state! Last year, OHS performed 12,743 surgeries and investigated 2,648 reports of cruelty.
OHS does not receive tax dollars. They are funded entirely by private donations.
We're hoping you'll join us in helping pets from all walks of life. Please donate now!
Thank you so much!
