I'm lacing up my shoes for Doggie Dash, a fundraiser for Oregon Humane Society! And even though we probably won't be walking in mass this year, it is still important that we come together for the animals sake!
If you know me at all, you know how much I love animals. I signed up for Doggie Dash because I want to raise money to support Oregon Humane Society's mission: "To foster an environment of respect, responsibility and compassion for all animals through education, legislation and leadership. To care for the homeless, to defend the abused and to fight with unrelenting diligence for recognition of the integrity of all animals."
When I first started supporting OHS, I didn't realize just how much they did for pets.
Did you know that OHS never puts time limits on how long pets remain at their shelter? What really touches my heart is when two pets go to OHS and are best friends, they stay for as long as it takes to find a loving home together.
Dogs and cats with behavior challenges also come to a great place as our knowledgeable staff works with them daily to understand why they act as they do, then come up with a whole plan of action for potential adopters to set them and the animal up for success in the home!
A lot of people don't know that OHS has an onsite hospital. Life-saving veterinary procedures take place almost daily at the OHS Holman Animal Medical Learning Center, a state-of-the-art animal hospital that averages more than 12,000 surgeries annually.
And when it comes to helping abused or neglected pets, we have Humane Officers who are certified police officers commissioned by the Governor to investigate animal crimes throughout Oregon. Our Investigations department also seeks justice for these animals! OHS really does give a voice to the voiceless.
I'm hoping you'll join me in helping pets.
The lifesaving work of the Oregon Humane Society is only possible because of donors like you. OHS receives no tax dollars and is not affiliated with any national humane organization.
Please donate now!
Thank you so much!
