Join me in supporting Doggie Dash, a fundraiser for Oregon Humane Society!
You know how much I love animals. I signed up for Doggie Dash because I believe in creating a more humane society and the pets in our community need help!
This past year so much has changed, yet our love of pets is constant. Even with everything that has happened, OHS is still committed to their mission and helping pets and people in need.
Did you know we are currently expanding? In the next year, we will have our very own community hospital! Do you know what that means??? We will be able to provide life saving veterinary care to our community for people who are low income/no income. We will also have a state of the art crime forensics lab to help our Humane Law Enforcement with cases involving neglect and cruelty. But, wait - there's more! We will also have a new state of the art behavior modification training center, to help those animals with higher needs and ultimately save more animals. This is amazing!! The fact that I get to be a part of a change of this magnitude, to be a part of helping our community, to be a part of something that can actually make a difference in peoples lives is beyond rewarding. I have seen first hand how much our community needs help and its because of programs like this that we can help keep pets in homes.
Some of you may know, I've decided to go back to school for social work, specifically veterinary social work. My goal is to help bridge the needs of the community, offer support to people with pets and make Portland safe for all pets and people. With new programs for no income/low income people, I feel that we can make this goal a reality.
I'm hoping you'll join me in helping pets from all walks of life. Please consider donating so we can continue to do the life saving work to help our community.
