We're lacing up our shoes for Doggie Dash!
You know how much Chris & I love animals. We signed up for Doggie Dash because they need our help! I volunteer with dogs at the Oregon Humane Society (OHS), and I see just how much love, energy, and MONEY is poured into helping Oregon pets live their best lives in a safe and loving home.
Did you know that OHS never puts time limits on how long pets remain at the shelter? One of my favorite things is that if two best-friend pets arrive together at OHS, they stay for as long as it takes to find a loving home together.
Did you know that OHS has an onsite hospital? Not only does the medical staff do routine care like health checks, parasite control, and spays and neuters, they're set up to deal with more serious health issues, as well. OHS recently cared for the cutest shepherd mix who was hit by a car and received a lifesaving leg surgery.
When it comes to disasters all over the country, OHS is also there to help pets. We've sent crews to recent hurricane-struck areas and flown shelter pets to get a second chance at a new home, and drove a van down to pick up homeless cats from areas affected by the Camp Fire. Don't worry, though - all those disaster-area pets were already in the shelters at the time of the disaster. When OHS moves those animals to Portland, it frees up shelter space for the animals that became lost during the disaster so they're kept safe while they wait for their family to come find them.
I'm hoping you'll join us in helping pets from all walks of life. Any amount donated is so appreciated!
Thank you!
Love,
Erin, Chris, Jasper, and Wren
