Join me in supporting Doggie Dash, a fundraiser for Oregon Humane Society!
You know I love animals. From the backyard birds I've started naming during quarantine, to my own beloved pets, Delta and Griffin, animals bring joy to my life. I signed up for Doggie Dash because I believe in creating a more humane society and the pets in our community need help!
This past year so much has changed, yet our love of pets is constant. Even with everything that has happened, OHS is still committed to their mission and helping pets and people in need.
Did you know that OHS never puts time limits on how long pets remain at their shelter? What really touches my heart is when a pet arrives at OHS who may be shy or frightened, OHS has a special program to help teach them to trust people and that love is good. Big wins are the simple things like a dog's first tail wag or when a shy cat relaxes around you, but the really big win is the loving home they will be ready for when adopted.
When it comes to helping abused or neglected pets, OHS has a Humane Law Enforcement team that is in the field, taking extra precautions during COVID, to investigate reports of animals who sometimes are in desperate situations. Frequently, these humane officers are connecting struggling pet owners with lifesaving supplies or resources.
OHS realized early during the pandemic that pet owners needed help and OHS has stepped up to support pet owners around the state. Close to 100,000 pounds of pet food was delivered to shelters and food pantries around the state, and given directly to owners at free pet food banks at OHS.
I hope your pets were a comfort to you through this very challenging past year. I know Delta and Griffin received many more snuggles than they did in 2019.
And I'm hoping you'll join me in helping pets from all walks of life. Please donate today!
Thank you so much!
