Siri and I are lacing up our shoes for Doggie Dash!

Most everyone knows that all of our pets are rescues. Robert and I believe strongly that it is better to adopt than buy. Because they are local and do great work, we support Oregon Humane Society as much as possible.

To that end, Siri and I are walking in our third Doggie Dash. We participate because Oregon Humane Society works hard in numerous ways to support and find homes for all kinds of animals. Need a rat or a bunny? They've got you covered.

Did you know that OHS never puts time limits on how long pets remain at their shelter? When two pets go to OHS and are best friends, they stay for as long as it takes to find a loving home together. If you take home a pet, they offer post-adoption services in the form of training and behavioral support.

OHS has an onsite hospital. OHS recently cared for an adorable shepherd mix who was hit by a car and received a lifesaving leg surgery.

And when it comes to disasters, OHS consistently lends their support to other rescues. They drove a van down to California and took in cats from areas affected by the Camp Fire.  They flew shelter pets to Portland from Alabama's tornado zone to open up space for lost pets. Their commitment is amazing.
