Lola
Lola is the tiny but mighty little dog who survived Hurricane Ida before being transferred to Oregon Humane Society. After her arrival, she spent nearly one year in OHS' care where she learned essential skills and gained confidence.
Lola needed a special home with someone who could assist with her medical needs, including seizures and skin allergies. She also needed to be the only pet in the home, which made it take a little longer to find the right fit.
It was worth the wait - because Lola found the perfect home! She loves car rides, playing with toys, and sleeping in her adopter's lap. Lola has even made friends with a feral cat that her adopters care for. Dogs like Lola may need extra time to find the right home and OHS doesn't put a time limit on how long a shelter pet stays. OHS staff and volunteers were committed to Lola and finding her happy home from day one.
Sherlock
Sherlock came to Oregon Humane Society in May 2022 and his history was a mystery. When he arrived, this big, loveable floof was easily excited. He loved to meet new people and dogs, but did not yet possess the polite manners skills he needed before he'd be able to greet off leash.
Sherlock spent time with the Behavior Modification Training Program trainers to learn how to settle.Trainers helped manage his energy through plenty of exercise and brain games. It was clear he needed an understanding, calm adopter who had the time and desire to continue working with him.
Sherlock, now Ripley, lives with his adopter Rachel and his brother Leo, a GSD, Husky, and Malamute mix. They all enjoy hiking and cuddle sessions. He enjoys laying by the fireplace, curled up next to his new best friend, and their shared mountain of toys.
Meatball
Meatball was transferred to OHS from a partner shelter through the Second Chance program. Staff knew finding this sweet girl a home would be challenging since her diabetes, a chronic condition can deter many adopters.
There is never a time limit on how long pets stay at OHS before they find the purrfect home, so Meatball was given all the love, care, space, and medical attention she needed. Four months after first arriving at OHS, Meatball's new adopter appeared, looking specifically for a cat who might have a harder time finding a home. Meatball has since been renamed Alice Louise, a more fitting name for this adorable lady.
Thanks to our compassionate adopters and generous donors, cats like Meatball get the second chance they deserve.
Gunner
Gunner is a smart and playful pup who loves all things fetch! He was brought to OHS in Fall 2022 and has been working with the Behavior Modification Training Program trainers to get ready for his new home.
Gunner has learned to sit and wait for pets to help him regain calm when overexcited and to use toys during play as an appropriate outlet for his energy. The Training & Behavior team at OHS is filled with professionals who are patient, understanding, and want every shelter pet to succeed.
Now, Gunner is ready to meet his new people. He will need adopters who will continue his reward based training and can provide him with the tools he needs to be a happy and settled.
The rest of Gunner's story has not yet been written, but support from generous donors help dogs like Gunner get everything they need while they wait to find their new homes.

Hey [NAME]!
It’s no secret that I love animals. That’s why I’m taking part in the Oregon Humane Society’s Doggie Dash and fundraising for shelter animals who need our help.
OHS is special because they never put time limits on how long animals stay at their shelter. Pets stay as long as it takes to find a loving home.
My goal is to raise $[INSERT YOUR GOAL] for OHS by [INSERT DATE]. Will you please help me reach my goal?
This cause is near-and-dear to me because [INSERT SENTENCE ABOUT WHY YOU’RE FUNDRAISING].
