Hi! I'm Tessa in case we haven't met yet, and you know Sarah---she is my 2-legged Mom! We are on the Wednesday Pawty Animals Doggie Dash team for fundraising to help animals in need, like I was when I got picked up as a stray in Klamath Falls. I had an uncertain fate at a local shelter, but in just a day I found myself in a van headed to the Oregon Humane Society (OHS) in Portland. They picked ME to be in their Second Chance Program!
And I got even luckier because Sarah was volunteering on the transfer that day, and well, I know we were meant to find each other. She adopted me, and we have an incredible life together hiking, camping, backpacking, going to the beach, playing fetch and just hanging out and snuggling.
Second Chance is just one of so many programs that the Oregon Humane Society has to help animals, and every dollar we raise will help support:
- Daily care for shelter animals, including walks twice a day and plenty of food, while they await their new homes; - Adoption of over 11,000 animals last year; - Subsidized veterinary care for pet owners in need so that they don’t have to deny their animal treatment due to cost; - A wide variety of training classes for both the public and volunteers; - Specialized training for animals in the Behavior Modification Program; - Investigations from OHS Humane Law Enforcement into suspected cases of cruelty and neglect, and caring for pets in protective custody; and - Relocation of animals to OHS from shelters in areas impacted by natural disasters, freeing up kennel space for displaced pets.
OHS is a non-profit that relies on donor support to provide all of these critical programs and services.
Please make a gift today to help Sarah and I reach our goal.
