Another year, another Doggie Dash! I feel very grateful that last year I had a lot of extra time to spend at Oregon Humane. As many of you know, a real highlight were the French Mastiffs, who were brought in from a rough situation in The Dalles. I also volunteered at my first veterinary and pet food clinic for low-income and houseless people through Blanchet House and Oregon Humane. I still get to anchor a Friday morning walking team, run shelter dogs, and try to help out wherever I can when I have the time!
This year, I may not have as much time, but the work continues with more protective custody cases than I have ever seen and animals coming in from very hard situations for their families- loss of housing, increase in living expenses, ICE deportations, rising costs of veterinary care, and more. One of the things I really value about OHS is having a on-site Veterinary Social Worker as a resource for these tough situations. Your donations make all of this work possible. It literally could not be done without support from the public as Oregon Humane receives no public funding.
Please help me make life brighter for animals and the people who love them by contributing to my fundraising efforts. Every dollar I raise will help support:
- Daily care for shelter animals while they await their new homes. - Financial aid for pet owners in need so that they don’t have to deny their animal veterinary care due to cost. - Specialized training for animals in Oregon Humane’s Behavior Modification Program. - Investigations into suspected cases of cruelty and neglect by Oregon Humane Law Enforcement. - Second Chances for animals transferred to Oregon Humane from other shelters across the state and beyond.
I’m fundraising to support all of the critical, life-changing programs and services that Oregon Humane provides. Please make a gift today to help me reach my goal!
