This is the story about a very special #ohspet.

Without Oregon Humane Society, Rambo might’ve had a very different life. He and his mom and six siblings were found in a parking lot in Tillamook at just two weeks old and that shelter didn’t have resources to care for the litter, so they were transferred to OHS via our Second Chance program. Rambo, his six siblings and mama were quickly taken into a foster home to grow strong.

Rambo and his litter spent a couple weeks in foster until there was a medical scare in the home, exposing the litter to parvo, so they returned to the shelter to spend time in our Animal Medical Learning Center isolation ward to ensure they could receive proper care. Luckily, no one got sick, and the litter was able to go back out to foster homes.

I was one of the lucky foster parents and I got to bring Rambo home. I loved him from the moment I met him, when he was just a tiny bebe. Fast forward three weeks, and I decided we had to be together forever so I adopted him on New Year’s Eve 2016.

Rambo proved to be a spirited fellow. To ensure he would grow up to be a good canine citizen, I enrolled him in classes at OHS through our Training & Behavior department. He passed the classes with flying colors and lots of vocal celebration to go along with it.

Thanks to his wild, exuberant ways, Rambo was an incredibly accident-prone puppy and was considered a frequent flyer through our Employee Pet Care Program in the AMLC – the test pilot for the future Community Veterinary Hospital, where he became a regular patient.

As time went on and Rambo “matured,” we both decided it was time for us to give back. Rambo was the bestest, big foster brother to a Humane Law Enforcement protective custody dog and a handful of Behavior Modification dogs over the course of two years.

Rambo is a true testament to the cycle of service that OHS provides a human and their pet. He was given the best shot at life by coming in through our doors, he received top notch medical care while in shelter and as a public hospital patient, he had access to some of the best trainers and 24/7 behavior support (that we definitely needed) and he helped give back to more animals in need. Without OHS, his lived experience wouldn’t have been possible.

Please consider honoring my bebe boi with a donation to our Doggie Dash page. Remembering him, remembers all the pets at OHS.
