This year has been a big year for my relationship with OHS! I’m still a dog anchor and dog runner, but the past year I have also been lucky enough to work with some amazing dogs in Protective Custody who came into the shelter through OHS’s Humane Law Enforcement Program and learned how to dog with the help of dedicated staff and volunteers, helping them all find forever homes. We are also approaching our 1 year anniversary with our OHS boy, Arrow, who jumped into my running bag in the shelter one day and then found himself at home with us shortly after. It’s been tough on the rescue front for all animal shelters- lower adoption rates, longer stays for animals, harder to place the big dogs who need consistent training. It’s not always easy, but we still choose to show up and support our community of animal lovers.

A few things that your donation dollars support:

- Daily care for shelter animals while they await their new homes. 
- Subsidized veterinary care for pet owners in need so that they don’t have to deny their animal treatment due to cost.  
- Specialized training for animals in OHS’ Behavior Modification Program. 
- Investigations from OHS Humane Law Enforcement into suspected cases of cruelty and neglect.  
- Relocation of animals to OHS from shelters in areas impacted by natural disasters, freeing up kennel space for displaced pets.
