I had no idea how complex and challenging the world of animal welfare was until I joined Oregon Humane Society last August.
Every week, our internal reception team receives over 1,000 calls from animal lovers and pet owners across the country. Each call brings a question that these people know OHS can answer... - I found a kitten! What do I do? - My dog won't stop chewing on things? Why? - I saw something that made me worry about the wellbeing of an animal. Can you help?
The work needed to help care for pets in our community intersects every day with the work that's being done to place shelter animals in loving homes. OHS is always evolving to help meet these needs.
- We have a veterinary hospital that provides high-quality care to all clients. The CVH provided over $1.3 million in subsidized care last year.
- OHS's Humane Law Enforcement Team is authorized to enforce animal welfare laws throughout the state. In 2024, this team followed up on 4,387 reports of suspected cruelty and neglect.
- Our animal care team and shelter staff are always working to make paw-fect matches between pets and people with our Portland and Salem shelters open 7 days a week. In 2024, this dedicated team of animal lovers found homes for 11,911 pets.
I am so grateful to be part of the OHS family this year and to be fundraising for this organization.
Please make a gift today for the animals!

One of my favorite things to do is look in the storage area and see the chaos!
