I'm lacing up my shoes for Doggie Dash, a fundraiser for Oregon Humane Society!
My fundraising team is Highway to Home—a highly trained, experienced group of volunteers I’m proud to save pets alongside
Highway to Home is a team of dedicated volunteers that support the Second Chance program at Oregon Humane. This program was established in 1997 to help partner shelters place animals when they have run out of space or time.
• 7,926 dogs, cats and small animals were saved from high-kill shelters in 2019
• Over 78,000 highway miles were driven in order to bring these pets to OHS and their forever homes.
• Second Chance has over 90 volunteers that donate almost 6,000 hours a year.
• OHS works with over 90 partner shelters in Oregon, Washington, California, Oklahoma, Texas, Hawaii and other states throughout the country.
Several times a week and often late in the evening, Second Chance volunteers unload a truck full of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. We gently usher them through an intake process that includes taking their photo, a vet exam, and appropriate medical treatments. Each animal is fed and placed onto a soft, clean bed where they are safe until they are adopted. At OHS every animal has the opportunity to find their home. There are no time limits for their stay.
When we are not doing these intakes, our team is busy fundraising for OHS by hosting events here in Portland to help us reach our team donation goal. And you can help!
Please join us and make a gift directly to Highway to Home or one of our team members. Help us fight animal cruelty, heal injured animals, and save lives.
Thank you, from the bottom of our furry hearts! 🐾💛🐾
