Another Fundraising Year for OHS!

If you can believe it, I just passed my 6th year anniversary as a volunteer for OHS! In those years, I have donated more than 500 hours as a dog walker, dog runner, phone banker, and random events help! Recently, I became an Anchor for our Friday AM walking team. Who doesn't love a 630am start on a Friday?!

My highlights from this year:

- spending time with the beagles who came to OHS from a testing breeding facility in Virginia and had never experienced human kindness

- learning about how OHS' social worker kept people who were facing homelessness connected with their pets

- working with some very nervous and scared dogs on our Running Team, to overcome their fears of the real world on our neighborhood runs

As much as I give my time, I also donate my cash as a monthly PAWS donor. Once a year, I come to you, my friends to raise more for OHS. OHS is not a county shelter, it does not receive any government funding. And yet at the same time, it is a huge community benefit offering a new Community Veterinary Hospital, Animals Crimes investigation center, Behavior and Rescue center (I spend a lot of time with the Bmod pups!), and more.

You guys have all seen me fall in love with dogs who needed a few months, or a year, to find their perfect home. Sweet Sheila and Jam who were returned multiple times before ending up with their forever families. My little buddy, Bo, the blind dog who was the star of last year's doggie dash. Canela and Aries, the sensitive dobies who wiggled their way into my heart, and my sweet boy, Moose, who with the help of the BMod program was able to find his life long best friend.

In my own life, we have Otto, Bill Walton, and Andre Miller- our 3 OHS cats, who keep life fun and complicated!

I hope you'll find a way to make a donation (no donation is too small!) to help this community organization continue to grow and serve not just animals and humans in Portland, but from all over the country, as they find their way to OHS through the Second Chance Program.

I hope you'll join me in helping pets from all walks of life. Please donate now!

Loulou is a beautiful girl who was adopted and returned due to a seizure condition. She is now in the B Mod program and is doing so amazingly well! Here she is on our latest run together :)

Late post, but exciting news!! My boy Dexter was adopted and went home with a family where he has a little human sister to keep him company. OHS never gave up on him! This weekend the longest resident dog, Oliver, who was in the Behavior Modification program AND on our running team was also adopted! All this work takes human and financial resources, and that's what your $$$ are supporting!
