The behavior modification program at The Oregon Humane Society has helped over more than 140 special needs animals in 2023. The most we’ve ever been able to help in any previous year, all thanks to the opening of the Behavior and Rescue Center! Since moving into this intentionally designed building, we’ve seen pets find homes 40% faster. All our success is possible thanks to donors like you.
The behavior modification program, also known as the BMOD program, has a team of certified trainers and dedicated staff + volunteers that help animals of various backgrounds who need special care in order to ready themselves for their forever homes. These pets need to spend longer in the shelter and special care in order to be prepared to enter a pet home. Many pets have been neglected or traumatized from previous hardships and have little trust in people or understanding of what it means to be a pet in a home. Our team spends time building trust with each animal, designing a specific training and enrichment plan geared toward their best success, and then spends time helping match the pets to potential adopters. Once pets are adopted our support doesn’t stop there, we continue to check in with adopters providing tips and training sessions in order to ensure long term success.
I’m fundraising for support to continue to provide quality professional care for victims of cruelty & neglect, shy and nervous pets, and the rowdy bunch that need help learning to focus, so their transition into a pet home is a seamless and smooth as possible. Your donation will help this team continue to help those who are the most vulnerable.
Thank you!
